Equine Lifestyle Photography

Welcome to the Perfect Equine Lifestyle Photography Experience…

…the one and only aim of Jonathan Yearsley Pet and Equine Photography.

As winner of the Xperience Pet Portrait Photographer of the Year and one of a few photographers qualified in both pet photography and fashion photography in the country, I’m dedicated to creating timeless art work for discerning clients that appreciate the benefits of working with a specialist in this field. Whilst most photography studios would happily photograph you and your horse out on location, how much do they understand your horse and the specific skills required to photograph them in the best way possible? Equine lifestyle photography is a beautiful record of the relationship you share with your horse.

Whilst you might have had photographs provided when competing, this is a different experience. Rather than wearing your mucking out gear or show finery, it’s an opportunity to wear your favourite country casuals and dress up a little.

Meeting the equine lifestyle photography client’s specific needs

Every client, commissioning me, completes a short pre-session consultation form. This helps me fully appreciate your horse and exactly how to photograph them. Understanding their age, colouring and temperament all help me set the session up so that I create the best images possible.

We also have a phone consultation that helps me understand what you want from your images. We discuss where they will sit on your walls, how large and what sort of photographic products work best.

The equine photography session itself will take place at your yard or, perhaps, out on location. We will spend a little time getting to know the surroundings, determining where will be the best location for different images. My aim is create plenty of variety in the images from the session, and a perfect choice to select your finished art work from.

This part of the session will be in natural light, which will be used to the best advantage possible. If your horse will be happy with it, I can also offer images that will use flash lighting. This creates beautiful moody images that will look great on the walls of your home. Why not buy a fine art album, using the variety of different locations and changes of clothes to best effect.

Creating the perfect finished art work

Once the session is completed, I will invite you back to the studio for a viewing and art consultation session. This is your chance to select your absolute favourites from the images shown to you. We work with available budget and room space, to find exactly the right art work for your walls.

Due to the bespoke nature of the work I create, there are plenty of options, but the product gallery here will give you a good idea as to what I have created for previous clients.

How much does an equine lifestyle photography commission cost?

Given the quality of service I deliver to my clients, you would imagine that commissioning me is quite a costly exercise. This really isn't the case. I'm so sure that I will create images that you will love, that my most popular weekend package is only £195 and includes both a beautiful fine art desktop framed image of your favourite from the shoot and a £10 donation to a horse related charity.

The charity I'm supporting, at the moment, is World Horse Welfare. I've helped raise over £4000 for charities in last year alone.

This will cover a commission within 60 miles of Chester, beyond this there will be a negotiated charge for mileage.

There are a number of different commission options depending on whether you wish to book me for a weekday or weekend session, or if you wish to pre-purchase artwork and save money at the same time.

Perhaps a number of you, from the same yard, might like to group together for a session at the same time.  Please ask for my 'yard shoot' rates.

After the commission fee, the amount you spend will really be determined by the art work that you wish to purchase.  Small art pieces are priced from £95, with average clients investing around £1250 and upwards on the fine art I deliver to them.
